Evelyn Jeanette Cook, 67, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at her home in Florence.
Cook was born in Frisco City but had resided in Atlanta, Ga. until recently. She retired from Delta Airlines after 29 years of service and was a member of South Cobb Church of Christ in Austell, Ga. and was an adopted member of Glendale Church of Christ in Florence.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Bailey.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Cook; her mother, Myrtle Bailey of Frisco City; one daughter, Jennifer (Adam) Dickerson of Athens; two sisters, Betty Rhodes and Sue Barlow; one brother, Cecil Bailey Jr.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Greenhill Funeral Home and burial followed in Atlas Cemetery at Atlas Church of Christ in Killen. A memorial service was held at South Cobb Church of Christ in Austell on Monday, May 18 at 3 p.m.
Doris Eleanor Apple Crank

Doris Eleanor Apple Crank, 86, of Franklin died Monday, June 22, 2209 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home.
Crank was a native of Stayton, Okla. She had resided in Franklin for many years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Crank of LaComb, La. and Rodney Crank of Griffin Ga.; two daughters, Sandra Eliassen of Martinsville, Va. and Terry Crank of Franklin; one brother, Charles Apple of Merridan, Ind.; one sister, Beverly Mulkey of McMinnville, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 25 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Allen officiating.
Betty Joyce Hadley
Petty – Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, Atmore
Betty Joyce Hadley, 57, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in Perdido.
Hadley was a native and resident of Perdido for most of her life. She was an employee of Wal-Mart in Bay Minette for nine years and attended the Springs of Life Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dallas Hadley of Perdido; two sons, Billy (Gina) Wells of Perdido and Charlie (Carla) Hammons of Spanish Fort; four daughters, Leigh (Kenneth “K.J”) Johnson of Wilmer, Anita (Andy) Taylor of Monroeville, Lisa (Kem) Manning of Elberta and Jennifer (Hubert) Parker of Perdido; a sister, Doris McClusky of Chicago, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, June 19 at 10 a.m. at the Lottie Baptist Church with Sister Eula Price officiating. Burial followed at White Cemetery.
Mable I. Harris
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Mable I. Harris, 88, of Uriah died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Luvern Nursing Home in Luvern.
Harris was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a member of Mineola Baptist Church. She worked for Vanity Fair and worked as a lunchroom manager for J.U. Blacksher School for many years. She was also an Avon representative.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Harris; and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Harris.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Baggett of Uriah; four sisters, Lillie Mae Peavy of Monroeville, Molly Turberville of Wilmer, Willie Nell Taylor of Milton and Ervie Wright of Excel; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, June 23 at 3 p.m. at Mineola Baptist Church in Mineola with Rev. Marlon Brown officiating. Burial followed in Mineola Cemetery in Mineola.

Glenna Mills Dyal Jernigan

Glenna Mills Dyal Jernigan, 85, of Ammon, Idaho died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Life Care Center.
Jernigan was born in Uriah. She graduated from J.U. Blacksher High School and worked at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile during and after World War II. She worked as a substitute teacher and real estate broker in Mobile. She moved to Idaho in 1999. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served for 14 years as president of the Mobile Branch Primary. She also served as the Relief Society president and Sunday school. She taught youth in early-morning seminary for several years and worked as a volunteer in the LDS Family History Center in Mobile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Charles Jernigan; her parents, Dahlonega Washington Dyal Jr. and Pearl Agnes Baggett Dyal; eight sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include her sister, Vyvyan Dyal Jordan of Montgomery; three daughters, Ann (Alan) Stephens of Ammon, Ind., Jane Quist (Alan) McMurtrey of South Jordan, Utah and Sue (Dennis) Moss of Syracuse, Utah; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27 at 11 a.m. at Petty Funeral Home in Atmore. Burial will follow in Catawba Springs Cemetery in Brewton.

Charolette Montgomery-Nettles, 41, of Beatrice died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Capitol Hill HealthCare Center in Montgomery.
Nettles was a native of Chestnut and had lived in Monroe County all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church in Chestnut where she served as the Adult Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Nettles of Chestnut; her mother, Marie Montgomery of Chestnut; two sons, Pvt. Cedric Nettles of Ft. LeJune, N.C. and Jeffrey Nettles of Chestnut; one brother, Samuel Montgomery Jr. of Chestnut; and three sisters, Sherry Montgomery, Linda Thames and Emma Lymon, all of Chestnut.
Services were held Tuesday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Chestnut with Rev. Floyd Dailey officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Helen Turberville Rowell

Helen Turberville Rowell, 58, of Monroeville died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home in Monroeville.
Rowell lived most of life in Monroe County and was a resident of Monroeville. She was a member of Mexia Baptist Church and had worked as a cashier for many years.
Survivors include her mother, Helen Rowell of Monroeville and Nan McKay of Aliquippa, Pa.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at Eureka Baptist Church in Finchburg with Rev. Scott Allen and Rev. Stephen Glover officiating.
Willie Mae Tait

Willie Mae Tait, 84, of Perdue Hill died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home.
Tait was a native of Clarke County but had lived in Monroe County most of her life.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Whatley.
Services were held Saturday, June 20 at 11 a.m. at Penn’s Chapel with Rev. W.E. Hill officiating. Burial followed in McConnico Cemetery in Perdue Hill.

Rev. Robert Wasden Jr., 79, of Frisco City died Friday, June 19, 2009 at a family residence in Frisco City.
Wasden was a native of Monroe County and lived in Frisco City for many years. He was a minister and served at the Faith Lighthouse Apostolic Church in Frisco City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Minnie Wasden; and two sons-in-law, William Bill McInnis and Charles Ritchie Weaver.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Wasden of Frisco City; two sons, John Robert (Inez) Wasden and Rev. William Ladon (Emma) Wasden, both of Frisco City; five daughters, Margaret Wasden (Roger) Stinson, Betty Wasden Weaver and Linda Wasden (James) Harris, all of Frisco City, Sharon Wasden (Richard) Cunningham of Dahlonega, Ga., and Sandra Wasden (Ted) Kegebein of Lenox, Ga.; one brother, Nathan (Ruthie) Wasden of Escatawpa, Miss.; one step-brother, Chuck Countryman of Excel; three step-sisters, Avis Miller of Dothan, Elizabeth Wright of Excel and Phyllis Gordon of Peterman; 22 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
